Backache

What is backache?

When our back, for various reasons, is over-worked or strained and develops into a pain in the back region - it is called a backache. It can spread to the waist and hips also.

Causes

Weak abdominal and back muscles, incorrect posture, muscular tension, wrong diet, lack of exercise, kidney problems, arthritis, wearing of high heel shoes, long hours of sititng.

Symptoms

Pain felt in the middle of the back or in the lower back. When the pain gets aggravated, it tends to spread to both sides of the waist and hips.

Remedy (Nuskhe)

  • Massage back with turpentine oil (tarpeen ka tel).
  • Avoid rice, urad dal, maida and fried foods.
  • Boil water with a few tulsi leaves or a black cardamom (moti ilaichi) for drinking.
  • Eat 3-4 walnut halves (akhrot giri) every morning on an empty stomach for 1-2 weeks.
