Bladder Stones
Bladder Stones

What are bladder stones?

Bladder stones are crystalline masses that form from the minerals and proteins which naturally occur in urine.  Bladder stones can form anywhere in the urinary tract before depositing in the bladder.  They begin as tiny granules, about the size of a grain of sand, but they grow to more than an inch in diameter.  These stones can block the flow of urine causing pain and difficulty with urination.  They can also scratch the bladder wall, which may lead to bleeding or infection.

Causes

Age, poor fluid intake, incomplete emptying of the bladder, recurrent urine infections, medical conditions, for example, gout.  Men are more prone to developing bladder stones.

Symptoms

  • Blood in the urine.
  • Difficulty and pain while passing urine, extra pressure required to pass urine.
  • Frequent urge to pass urine.

Remedy (Nuskhe)

  • Boil 2 figs (anjeer) in 1 cup of water.  Drink daily for a month
  • Kulthi, which is like daal, is the best remedy for stones.
Soak 250 grams kulthi in 3 litres (12 cups) water overnight.  Next morning, boil it on low heat for 4 hours tills about 1 litre (4 cups) water remains.  Temper the dal water with 3-4 tablespoons pure ghee.  To temper (chhownk), heat ghee and add jeera and black pepper (kali mirch).  Add some rock salt (sendha namak) and haldi too.  Add tempered ghee to the dal soup.  Have only this for lunch for 1-2 weeks.  Drink as much as you can, atleast have 1 large cup of the soup every day as lunch.  You may have 1 chapati with it if you cannot stay without roti.  You may cook this daal like any other dal and eat with roti too but the above method of taking it as soup is still better.
  • People suffering from these disorders benefit greatly by including almonds in their daily diets.
  • Fig consumption is beneficial in these conditions.  Boil 6-7 figs in 1 cup of water.  Cool and drink daily for at least a month.  In case of kidney stones drinking juice of fresh figs frequently is also very beneficial.
  • Grind walnut kernels to a powder.  Have 1 teaspoon of walnut powder, morning and evening to get rid of stones through urine.
  • Having cucumber (kheera) is very beneficial.  Eat cucumber in the evenings.  Avoid rice and spinach (paalak).
