What is cholesterol?
Indentified as a waxy, fat like substance that lines all cell walls of our body, cholesterol produces many hormones, vitamin D, and bile acids that help to digest fat in the body. Too much cholesterol in the body leads to deposits on the inside of the arteries of the heart, mostly leading to heart diseases.
Causes
Overweight, hereditary, diet, age.
Symptoms
High cholesterol doesn't have any symptoms. The only way to know if you have high cholesterol is to get it checked through a simple blood test, called a fasting lipoprotein profile.
Remedy (Nuskhe)
- Sunflower seeds contain a substantial amount of linoleic acid, which is helpful in reducing cholesterol deposits on the walls of the arteries. Using sunflower seed oil in the condition of high cholesterol of high cholesterol is thus recommended.
- Finely dice an onion and mix it with 1 cup buttermilk along with ¼ teaspoon black pepper (kali mirch) powder and drink.
- Regular intake coriander (dhania) decoction made by boiling 2 teaspoons dry coriander seed (dhania) powder in 1 cup water. (Milk and sugar can be added to improve its taste. This could be a welcome substitute for tea or coffee.)
- Onion juice is very helpful in reducing cholesterol. Mix 1 teaspoon onion juice with 1 teaspoon honey. Have it once a day.
- Eating cooked bottle gourd (lauki) is good for people having this condition.
- Increase the intake of raw garlic as it helps to reduce cholesterol.
Eating the kernel of the seeds of watermelon (tarbooz giri) reduces cholesterol. Have ½ teaspoon of tarbooz giri early morning, every day.
