Remedy (Nuskhe)

  • Avoid drugs.  Try a cup of hot milk at bed time after a warm bath.
  • If you do not fall asleep after going to bed try the following method:  Lie on your back and do deep breathing for about 15 times and then lie on the side.  You will easily go to sleep.
  • Sometimes you can be so tired you can't even go to sleep!  Try taking a hot and then a cold bath.  It will refresh you.
  • It is said that raw onion eaten daily induces sound sleep.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of honey to a big cupful of water and have it before going to bed.  Babies generally fall asleep after having honey.
  • A cup of warm milk sweetened with honey should be taken before going to bed.  Have it everyday.
  • Juice of celery leaves (ajwain ka patta) with thick ribs and brittle stalks mixed with a tablespoon of honey when had at night before retiring helps to relax into a restful sleep.
  • Fry cumin seeds (jeera) in a little ghee and grind to a powder.  A teaspoon of this mixed with the pulp of a ripe banana should be taken at night regularly.
  • Two teaspoons juice of fenugreek (methi) leaves along with 1 teaspoon honey may be taken daily.
  • Soak 1 tablespoon leaves of fresh mint (pudina) in 1 cup water for 30 minutes.  Drink every night.  (Do not boil.)
  • Take seeds of watermelon and white poppy seeds (khuskhus) and grind them separately.  Mix equal amounts by weight.  Have ¾ teaspoon once in the morning and once before sleeping.  Take for 1-3 weeks as needed.
