BLACK PEPPER (PIPER NIGRUM)

Effects: Stimulating.

Aroma: Middle note.

This is a woody climbing vine native to India. The oil is also produced in Malaysia and China.

Properties: 

  • Expectorant.
  • Diuretic.
  • Stimulant.

Contra-indications:
Use in low dilutions as this oil may irritate sensitive skins. Avoid during the first three months of pregnancy.

Extraction:
Steam distillation of the black peppercorns.

Uses:

  • Indigestion.
  • Sinus congestion.
  • Helpful for chilblains.
  • Colds and flu
  • It is beneficial for digestive problems such as heartburn, flatulence and constipation and can also help in cases of loss of appetite.
  • Muscular aches and pains.

Scent: Warm and peppery.
