LEMON (CITRUS LIMONOM)

Effects: Cleansing and stimulating.

Aroma: Top note.

This evergreen tree is thought to have originated in India, and now grows extensively in southern Europe, particularly in Portugal and Spain.

Properties: 

  • Antiseptic.
  • Astringent.
  • Antiviral.
  • Stimulant

Contra-indications: 
May irritate sensitive skin. Photo toxic.

Extraction:
Expression of the outer part of the rind of the fruit.

Uses:

  • Sinusitis.
  • Sore throat.
  • Tonsillitis.
  • Inflammation of the gums.
  • Migraine.
  • Chilblains.
  • Verrucae.

Lemon is also a good first aid treatment for snake and insect bites. Also has a great use in skin and beauty care as a skin tonic and helps clear warts, corns and verrucae.

It has a general cleansing effect on the body. Lemon may be effective in relieving headaches and rheumatic pains.

It can be used in a vaporizer but should NOT be inhaled and sun and sun beds should be avoided for several hours after use on the skin.
