ORANGE (CITRUS AURANTIUM)

Effects: Calming and energizing.

Aroma:Top note.

This is the same tree that produces Neroli oil—an evergreen tree with fragrant white blossom which originated in the Far East. The orange tree is a familiar sight in the Mediterranean regions with blossom appearing in Spring and Autumn.

Properties: 

  • Antidepressant.
  • Antiseptic.
  • Antispasmodic.
  • Digestive.
  • Detoxifying.
  • Sedative.
  • Tonic.

Contra-indications: 
May irritate skin and is photo toxic.

Orange has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, as it calms and relaxes and may help insomnia.

Orange is beneficial for digestive problems such as constipation, diarrhea and flatulence, and helps the system eliminate toxins through the skin. Orange can also relieve muscular aches and pains.

It is beneficial for dry skin and dermatitis but should only be used in very low dilutions.
