This is a small evergreen tree which grows in the West Indies and Madagascar. Cloves are commonly used in cooking and dental preparations.
Properties:
- Antiseptic
- Analgesic.
- Antispasmodic.
- Disinfectant.
- Insectiside.
- Expectorant.
- Stimulant.
Contra-indications:
Clove is a very potent oil and should be used with great care. Used for massage it could cause skin irritation. Only use in very low dilutions less than 1%.
Extraction:
Steam distillation from both the stalks and stems.
Uses:
- Toothache.
- Muscular and nerve tension.
- Infected wounds.
- Indigestion.
Clove also relieves respiratory conditions and has been used to treat bronchitis, laryngitis, and colds.
It is an excellent room disinfectant and insect repellent.
Clove is also used in natural toothpastes.
Scent: Sweet, spicy and fresh.
Combines with:
- Lavender.
- Orange.
- Bergamot.
- Ylang-Ylang.
